Stole this from the Pipe and Slippers Mag.

Tools needed:- torque bit and set of feeler gauges.

Take off the Right hand bar end and try various size feelers twixt rotating grip and handlebar until the twist grip is still easy but 'sticks' when released, cut off said Feeler, et voila, cruise control. :clap

Cheap and nasty, but it works. Mine took a 15 thou feeler, whats yours????

My worry with your mod is that your bit of feeler guage will rust in in no time and the twistgrip will become ever stiffer.

Phil

Can somebody please explain to me...

What is the point of cruise control on a GS? in the UK.

Ok.. if you do a lot of motorway miles I can sorta see the logic... but how long can you keep a steady speed on British motorways?

As for roads in this country that really suit the GS......

.

A while back my throttle was sticking when the heated grips were on (resolved now).

I found it bloody dangerous when the throttle didn't snap closed.

This is not a safe modification !!! :rob

This has got to be a windup, your jamming something into your throttle to keep it open :jes , can I have first dibs on your headlight when the inevitable happens :thumb

This has got to be a joke..........nobody would jam the throttle open on purpose on a bike.

I can just imagine the response from your insurers when you declare this 'modification', they may even send the van round with the men in white coats.

Mine came with 'progressive cruise control' from standard... As I was riding, the throttle would start to stick, this became worse if I switched on the heated grips.

No visible modification, nothing to declare to insurers, and a bit worrying until I realised what was going on... :augie

My dad told me about the good old days in the outback of Oz where he and his (YDFOC*) mates would jam a large bit of 2x4 under the drivers seat and onto the accelerator peddle of his mk1 landcruiser for long runs, they could then drink beer:beer:, shoot natives :mcgunand fall asleep:eek: - my Dad came out of his land cruiser at some speed in the western desert when the 2x4 stopped paying attention and drove them all into a ditch, Ohh how he and his buddys laughed as they carried him unconscious to the road and waited for any passing traffic to take them on the day and a half journey to casualty!!! Sounds like a great Mod to me -:likeit -you cynical bunch. No really sounds cool - are there any other options that folk have tried? throttlemeister anything?
*australianism - young dumb and full of c**

Our wise cousins over the pond seem to "favor" installing a rubber O ring to spoil your day and save wrist effort

It's an MOT failure if it doesn't:eek:

Are you sure?

My 1942 Harley WLA had a NON return throttle as standard and passed it's MOT's with no problem! :nenau
