Does anyone know if BMW give a 2 year warranty on their batteries?

Can't find a dealer open today to check.

Thanks in advance.

i'm pretty sure they guarantee all their parts and accessories, including batteries, for 2 years.

I went in to Braintree today and yes the batteries do carry a two year warranty.

You need to know the following when taking a faulty one back:

Date of purchse
Dealer who supplied the battery
Mileage at purchase
Mileage at present
Any dealer servicing carried out during ownership

They then keep the battery overnight to test and hopefully ring you first thing the next morning to let you know what the tests showed!

So hopefully I'll have a new battery tomorrow night on the GS!

I can't speak for BMW but we sell alot of car and truck batteries with very few returns of those that do come back the vast majority are faulty do to the use of them ie:not been used for long periods causing sulphation of the plates, vehicle does not start very well meaning longer than normal cranking times.
If a battery has a fault on 1 cell only it should be warranty,2 cells possible warranty anymore cells than 2 with problems the battery has been damaged and is not a fault in manufacture.

Due to the construction of the battery isn't it difficult to determine individual cell condition.

Battery replaced FOC and I got a service book!!

Well what a good visit to the team at Braintree today.

My battery was replaced under warranty with just two months remaining I'm pleased to say the least.

More importantly they had a service record book for my 1150GS so now I have all the original docs and manuals for it. Seeing as it has only had the 1st service and the dealer is long gone it will have to start it's servioce history from now.

Well pleased with BMW today!

Quite correct but trying to explain this to a customer who assumes that the warranty entitles them to a new battery regardless of the condition and use of it is another matter.
