do i need my lamda sensor?

hi to all ,im new here ,ive just fitted a laser system to my r1100gs 1998 and has one pre cat lambda,reason im asking is it has no provision for the probe on the new exhaust ,not a worry i can always turn up a billet piece and weld it in for the probe ,jus ive heard alot of banter with folk leaving them out and the ccp nonsense,?i dont have the co adjuster ,any ideas .

I just put on a remus system, without the lambda initially, as
I could not pull it out off the old exhaust. Pulled the ccp too and
mileage suffered, had more vibration, high rpms were powerless.

Put a new lambda in (bosch generic with code 0 258 986 506-36y) and everything is back to normal except for some increased popping. Perhaps the exhaust joins are a bit leaky.

Think you should put your lambda back on.
 
It is possible to remove the lambda sensor and retrofit the CO pot, your bike will have the connector for it, you will get a used one from the guys at the top of the page :thumb2

Is your 1100 a EU import? As I thought Uk R1100GS didn't have a cat as standard.
However, there is a De-Cat mod writeup on here somewhere as it's one of the first things new owners do, as the cat weighs a fecking lot!:eek
 
i,ve just retro-fitted a potentiometer and can honestly say(after fecking about trying to cure all the backfire and surging probs)its totally transformed my bike to the way ive always dreamed my bike could run,its cured all backfires,surging etc.i,ve left the lambda in has it does,nt make any differance fitted or not-i think its fecked,i,ve also removed ccp.i thought id dropped a bo--ock buying this 1100gs but now know what all the hype is about-pulls like a fecking train:)
 
ive turned a boss out of mild steel gonna weld it in to my laser connecting pipe roughly where it goes on the original one ,thanks for the advice guys
 
took it off the 1150, and fited a techlusion, same as an 1100 pot i supose
