do you ever wonder where your old bikes are ?

R100R

I remember my mate having a beautiful J reg purple R100R
his bike was so clean immaculate
then he sold it and it went to wales
about 5 years ago i came across it in a scrap yard nr bradford leaning against a wall with shite all over it rusty and unloved
i tried to buy it but the jelly head running the site decided it was going to be restored one ferkin day maybe in the year 2030
i pestered him every week offering him well over the odds for it
eventually i gave up but used to call regually and look at it over the wall
what a waste ! ! ! !
it's gone now probally been crushed
my mate still has the spare keys for it
bugger i'll get mi coat

Yeah, I wish I'd kept my DB32 Goldie too (109 YRF). It was a '59 model that had been rebuilt by a mechanic in one of the local bike shops for his own use. He'd had an accident and so he couldn't ride it any longer. I did a straight swap for a 1970 Suzuki Hustler Mk2 - ridiculous to the sublime. My Goldie had a concentric carb fitted (though I had the GP too) and an alloy Lyta tank and the Superleggera fork conversion; oh, and a twin leading shoe front brake. Can't remember the make of this, but it wasn't the common or garden BSA/Triumph type.

One of the many bikes I wish I'd kept. Still, I do have a very nice 54 Triumph Tiger 100 that lubricates my garage floor nicely.

You're not the only one.

I don't remember which of these two this happened to, but my Dad swapped either (a) his Brough Superior (albeit fitted with an Indian V-twin engine), or (b) his 1948 Land Rover, for a Black and Decker electric drill. :blast

Admittedly, both of them were mostly rust, and hadn't run for about (a) 20 years or (b) 10 years. At least the drill worked.

New Section?

I reckon there are loads of us that wonder, I certainly do! Maybe its worth a new sub section in its own right? Kind of a a register where you put the reg numbers of the bikes you're interested in and if anyone knows its current "state" they can post.............just a thought?

I'd like to know if my first 1973 250 Honda OXG 23M is still around?

If that was a G5 (and the one my Dad had was "M" registered, so I think it must have been), then I'd guess if it's still around, its camshaft "bearings" will be well and truly shot by now. :D

Anyone know of this?
