Oh, and just in case people want to see what the stickers look like (sorry, blurry phone pic, but it gives you an idea):

...and it's next to a yellow tab that says "OPEN". That might challenge some of the more cerebrally lacking members of the Cambridgeshire population...

Sorry, getting a bit peeved now...

I know it's not perfect but what have you done that's any better?

It's better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

Now go do one :D

What have I done?

Taught dozens of FBOS courses for free, in my own time, to people just like you.

What I have not done is get all hormonal about a well meaning innocent post on an internet forum.

Sorry paramaniac - not really aimed at you.

Re-reading it I can see how it seemed that way.

I was just getting frustrated at me trying to do something positive and being sniped at. No offense meant and a sincere apology for making you feel like I was having a dig.

FBOS training :clap :bow

We need more people like you :thumb2

Well, I happened to be at Addenbrookes Hospital today, the one mentioned by Fil in his original post. I had a spare half hour so as it's a walk-in centre I walked-in. Half an hour later I walked out minus a pint of my finest claret (well, 463mls) but with a lovely sticker for my helmet that says A+ on it. Cheers for the heads up, Fil! :thumb2

Likewise - decent first-aid is one of those skills that you hope you won't need, but you REALLY appreciate it when you do. Anyone who teaches those sort of skills has my immediate respect :thumb2

Thinking about it, it's been about 10 years since I did any first-aid training and I could do with a refresher. If anyone knows of an FBOS course being run in East Angular, please let me know.

If they were to take a pint of my blood ,the next person might never need a painkiller again in there life . Used to donate but since accident not sure they would take it or that i would be able to do without it , But did ask about blood group stickers on lids a few years back and got shot down big time , I would like a couple of them ,where can they be got .??? Well done to all who donate , i have needed a few pints in the past years . Well done . Geno .

The thread has already been a success - David Hale's made a blood donation because of it and Geno has pledged some money to Motorcycle Outreach. :thumb2

I'll give it another couple of days to see if anyone else wants some stickers but if requests have stopped coming in I'll go and nab some stickers and get them sent out.

:)

Me please A+

I can donate a pint in six mins! but the wife can be upto 40 min.

Not sure if i should boast it not the only thing i can do fast

Keyframe, Orange, Snow White:

I can't send you PMs!

Could you email me your postal addresses so I can send these stickers out to you. Don't forget to include your ukGSer name in it somewhere!

My email is Fil @ my ukGSer username .couk

obviously you need to change the bit in blue

Thanks :thumb2

Please give blood!!

Mick (Boxertools) was a enthusiastic supporter of giving blood, he had a GOLD BLOOD DONATING CARD! Which basically meant he had given over 20 pints. He always told people the importance of given blood & frequently nagged our 2 children to give blood. He was so upset when they both went & had tatoos as he had made them promise to give blood at least 4 times before having piercing or tatoos! They didn't realise that there were 16 week intervals between each blood donation!!
If he had survived his accident last June (08) he would have needed all of the blood he had donated over the years, & probably more too!
Now our 2 children have started giving blood & I will continue until my last breath.

So go on it's only an hour of your time & it could save some one's life.

Also while I'm at it do a Life saving course, I did one years ago & will re do it as soon as I can. All of you guys that go out in group rides should know basic first aid at least, which thankfully a couple of Mick's friends did last June.

Sorry for the nag

Mrs Tools (Caroline)

I only ever had the pleasure of meeting Mr Tools the once and never had the chance to buy him a pint, so instead I'll donate my next one in his honour :clap
Now there's a great line! :D It's the same for me, I never met Boxertools so my next one is for him. :thumb2

'Tis what I thought too - but it makes no difference to me as I'm o Rh neg :D

Partly why I donate is knowing that my blood will have made it's way to a few RTAs and baby blood over the years....

That was my main reason too. I kept of the gout tabs for as long as I could, but 4 years ago the attacks came to often so I could no longer donate.:comfort
