FFS!!! :spitfire How loud do I have to shout ,its not about, bloody boundries, or borders, its about dealing with local issues at local level, and a slight, I admit selfish interest, but its Fxxk all to do with politics, why would a another forum, suddenly stop us getting on well together, and split us all up, sending us our seperate ways, FCS, catch yourselves on. The Irish sea doesn't stop us mixing, socialising with the Jockanese, Ingrish, or the men from the Land of Sheep. So why this sort of OTT reaction, too a simple suggestion, its only a website. Vote how you like, but I find some of the reasons given as way off the mark.... Dibs this is nothing personal, but there are far more like you, on here..... :nono

Outbursts like that will only hinder your cause.
No need for it. People have the right to express their opinions here, you and I included. I have met you personally in Lahinch and found you to be a decent bloke. I still feel that way about you. I don't agree with splitting the forum. The majority do not want it split. Why not leave it at that ?

yea what he (fergus ) said mmm
sure how else are yea gonna learn anything else about
bikes i mean come on like with out us yead be clueless
sure everybody knows the roads down south are the best
:bow

and before anybody gets there knickers inatwist
i was dead serious
also notice how i generalised and segregated by using the term yea

SB....I'm not involved obviously so this is just an opinion from an 'outsider', but I reckon FWIW that no matter how well intentioned and non-political the proposal is ,(and we all believe you that it isn't political or factional, honest!!) the sensitivity of the issue makes people feel uncomfortable about it.

In fact, given that we all want to be just GSers and given the Island's history, I'd suggest it's actually a very positive thing that the section is united.......though I can see your point about some of the stuff inevitably being more relevant to people within reach of a ride or whatever is being advertised.

To us over here, you're all just Irish Tossers whether you're from south of the border or North- and long may it stay so :thumb

I'm not sure if this (my) observation advances the discussion. I have been trawling round UKGSER site for 6/8 months and there are areas I still have not visited because of time constraints. Much of my trawling has been on Ireland and to a lesser extent Scotland forums with occasional dips into gear, travel and other such. I enjoy and appreciate the value of area based local knowledge forums and the craic in meeting fellow local tossers on the road.

My point FWIW is that without your contribution to this debate (with which I concur) I may not have read the Bansang Wall Appeal Document and would therefore not just now have put a cheque in the post as my contribution to the very worthy and laudable appeal.

Mental note taken to "get out more" and visit other forums..there are no "outsiders" here...we are all tossers!

Ferg, point taken, but after a few days of explaining my approach to this, people were still coming at me with the wrong end of the stick, and I found that frustrating. I have always said that I would abide by the result, and I felt a poll was the only road to take to find what the majority wanted.
Change was always going to be a difficult subject too approach, and I suppose I knew the tide was against me, especially having already taken the N.Ireland forum and thrown it into a bigger pond, where we found ourselves in the minority of voters anyway.
I have nothing against the Ireland forum, it is a great place to come and visit, and I have also met and made some great friends in recent years. There is always lively debate, and some great points have been raised in the last few days. So I hope at the end of all this, I would like to think, people will still look upon me as a 'decent bloke'. :thumb

Splitting Ireland

Lads,
It all sounds way too civilised there at the moment.
I reckon that Cork, The Rebel County, should have it's own section and fcuk the rest of them...
Home thoughts from abroad.

. . .er. . Pat, not sure the Kingdom would be too happy about that!

Ireland

Suggestion..... what about listing the areas in alphabetical order.
We could be All Ireland, and therefore at the top of the page!
Easier found, with less scrolling, result!

Backmarker...you are hereby awarded ten penis points.

You are well on the way to being an official knob.

Well done.

Well said that man. :thumb

P.S. In respect of Paul's question: Leave alone I say

. . .am anti chilled stout (extra cold, I ask you , you couldn't taste the bloody stuff). Stout, of any persuasion, should be sold @ room temp., like red wine.
Hu rem the old days? The drinker was brainwashed by the brewer (a particular one) & the licenced trade.
