Does the gear lever have a splined or plain shaft. I have adjusted it to its highest position but it is still too low for me. I do not want to undo the lever fitting if it is simply sitting on a plain shaft.

Plain shaft on the lever end and is held in place with a torq bolt, the oppo end on the gearbox is on a spline but not sure if there is room for adjustment ! You could wait till the GSA is out and buy the gear lever for the GSA, its adjustable .

I will probably go for the Wunderlich clever lever. The original is not only too low for me but too short. Even with pivot pegz I still cannot get the right angle.

I fitted the Wunderlich clever lever today and to be honest it is not a lot, if any longer, than the standard lever and hardly any higher. In fact if you have it any lower than the maximum height it fouls the side stand and sticks down. The small nylock nut that locks one of the length adjusters is the culprit. I took the opportunity to play with the splined fitting on the shaft into the actual box. However this us a non starter as the adjustment is too coarse and makes the lever lock up. There is a line on the end of the shaft that has to be used for alignment. Unfortunately it is blowing a gale and torrential rain so I cannot test it out. Just as with the standard set up there is a large amount of slack in the lever to shaft set up And I wonder if this is at the root of the gear change problems. So far over £200 spent on pegz and gear change and I still think it will be a pain. It is almost as if the base design of the gear lever has it in the 'wrong' place for the average boot.

One of the first things I changed was the damn shift lever on my 2014...too short and buried in too far.

Installed the adjustable SW Motech and it is awesome...shifts just like a jap bike now :D

Thanks for the pointer. Even after replacing the standard pegs for the fancy BMW Giles ones (are nice), I still find the gear lever too low buried (that's the right word). I've adapted to it, but it's fiddly and I'm reminded every time I get back on it after riding the Trumpet. I'm going to give SW Motech jobbies a go.

Yes :D

I've put it on (so I can on road / off road..) but have only just done it and haven't tried it out yet ... :thumb2

Ah, well if you have it, it must be good!:P

Keep us posted.:thumb

Go back up to the fourth post for my comments on the Wunderlich. Weather is still too bad an still too much debris to go out to test it but as you will read it is not that much different from the original in its extended position. The roller peg might make a difference but I am a bit disappointed. Road test will follow in due course. I do think the slack or play in the linkage may well be at the root of the gear change issues.
