Excellent! I like the colour, fame bracing looks good too. Engine mounts look a bit low though...

Just a few points, John, like Pete Keys I liked the idea of cutting out the raised centre of the righthand pillion footrest bracket. Also if you look just beneath the factory I/D plate, the short length of 1" square section tube can just be seen. This way it gives it a bit more strength without hindering the fitting of the tank. This bike will be fitted with a single seat - I bought this, in red, from the US about six years ago and it's never been out of it's box. The centre stand bushes are worn more than I'd like so I may christen my 'new' 60yr old German lathe by attempting to turn some up on bronze.

that looks great ,and its a credit to you ,and when i read the earlier post ,when you said it was silver ,i thought ,not sure about that ,but it looks really good .well done .

Thanks Dave. I'd always admired the Rickman Metisse frames which were nickel plated so I was trying to capture that image. The Seeley frames were also painted silver.
makes a change from black ,and now ive seen it ,its something to consider if (when) i start a project

I decided to keep the original forks for reasons lost in the mists of time (actually it was because I couldn't find a modern set with the same length and travel combination - when it was still going to be a road bike) and now I can't afford to replace them with anything more suitable anyway...

That'll never work. The left hand leg is on back to front ;-) Emulators??
Perhaps that's why I got it cheap!
Emulators - cartridge emulators. They're supposed to improve the performance of the damping rod type forks fitted to these bikes. We'll see (eventually!).

What do you find the best cleaning fluid? I've tried Clarkes cleaning fluid diluted 2:1 and it's pretty poor, so I'm going to start to use paraffin instead. Not too close to the gas heater though.
I hire my cleaning tank from Safetykleen and use their solvent. I think is refined paraffin. I've used it for years and it works better than anything except one of those heated, immersion tank things.

Checking runout of the fork stanchions
They're both out of limits - they should be with in 0.1mm but I'm going to run with them for now because they're easy enough to change later if necessary. I'd like to change the front end for something more exotic. It has to be RWU though - to stay in keeping with the spirit of it. Cerianis would be nice...
