Downloading routes

I cannot send my routes to my device (GPS) when I connect it to the serial port. It used to work but now all I get is a message saying it cannot find device. The maps are sent ok using the USB port....I have tried using the meue bar and the symbol, disconnected the serial port connection rebooted pc...

Why can't you send the route using the USB connection?

What model GPS do you have?

It is a streetpilot 111. Manual says you have to load routs via the serial port from the computer. It used to work this way but no longer.....Any thoughts or advice...

I had the same problem with my SPiii. The problem went away when I changed the PC, but before that I had success with re installing Mapsource and the drivers on the old setup.

Its the drivers that are the problem I think and accessing the serial port. Prior to that I had to reboot each time to find the device before uploading routes. Works fine now.

Garmin support were helpful as well.

I have a similar problem, showing cannot find device. Mine's a 2610, connected with USB port, but I haven't been able to load anything from Mapsource. I haven't got a DVD drive, so loaded Mapsource onto a portable hard drive, then into my computer's drive. Everything loaded up OK, registered the unit with Garmin with all the codes, (do they send v9 on a DVD??), but no joy.

Ended up contacting Garmin. They tried to resolve over the phone, but could not do. They have now eamiled me asking to return for repair/replacement ......cost £165,24 inc vat..............I have asked them why when the unit is less than 1 year old and came with a guarantee.....
