This afternoon we arrived in Mérida, where we're staying at the Mérida Palace Hotel. You may have guessed we've not skimped on the accommodation thing at all but I like a nice bed, hot shower, fluffy towels and a cold beer after a hard day riding. Plus Mrs J insisted we stay in nice places. Trailfinders found us this gem at £75 for the night, B&B. It is a 5 star hotel, so not bad all in all.
The best thing we've brought with us? The Scala Q2 headsets have been brilliant, working faultlessly all day at up to 600 metres apart. We charge them up every night and then clip them back onto the helmets every morning. They have paired well with my Zumo 550, the sat nav instructions have come through fine and Mrs J and I have been chatting away to one another as we ride pretty much all day. It's been weatherproof so far too. The system is way better than my Autocom which was problematic from day one. The Scala has worked faultlessly straight out of the box. Once the voice channel is open, it remains open as a two way channel until we've been quiet for more than 15 seconds. And it works well up to 80mph. It may well be fine over that but Mrs J won't go too fast, she just likes to amble along.
