I'm just in the process of re vamping a Universities Building management system. Were stripping out the old system and putting in ours, unfortunatly, the old graphics are drawn in Micrografx Direct draw and the files have the .drw extension. Does anybody know a modern package that will support this format? failing that where I can get a copy of direct draw?

Rob,

I've used DraftView in the past to open and print archived Personal Designer files, which I believe also use the native DRW format.

Good Luck

Rob,

*.drw , *.drg and *.dxf are all outputs from Autocad - the std package for architect and building services.

All you'll see are line drawings of services over building plans - if you're lucky they'll be on selectable layers with colours - if not it'll be confusing.

What format can you open ? - or do you want ?

Great response guys Thanks!

I've just tried the Draftview program but it doesn't play ball with these drw files...neither does Autocad.

I can view the graphics using paint shop pro but it looses the background and more importantly the animated points attached to the graphic. I've got our CAD guys running up new graphics based on the paint shop pro stuff but they need the attached objects to animate them.

Richie, I've sent a zipped file to the info @ address on your website - Thanks

Aren't old systems great? this one was a bag of shite when it was new.
