Looking for decent digs for one night (before return ferry) within an hour of ferry port
Somewhere with decent secure parking (and rural If possible) with evening food nearby or on premises
Can be
B&B
Self catering
Hotel
Pub

We stayed at the Leonardo, Christchurch last month. There’s a Q park adjacent to it with an entrance from the car park on level 4 decent security with barriers and a man in the small office. 15-20 minutes from the ferry terminal. Handy for a walk into the city for food and beers.

Check out Lynhams in Laragh, or even better, Trooperstown Lodge. The Lodge is just outside Laragh village but they have a shuttle service that will run you into Laragh and home afterwards. The Wicklow Heather is one of the best restaurants in Co. Wicklow - you won't be disappointed. Probably a bit more than an hour from Dublin Port
but not by much. Also, just about every road into Laragh is good fun on a bike. Both spots have good offstreet parking so your bike will be well secured.

I can lend you a bucket if you need one
Many years ago I stayed in a friend’s house after a night out. Plenty of beer. I mean plenty. Woke up with an urgent need to empty about 15 pints. Couldn’t find the bathroom. Found the window. JJH

If they were pints of Guinness, and that was an urgent dump, that's a story of legend!

Many years ago when I was at Ag college - we spent 2-3 weeks in the Vendee, at Luçon (King Rat will remember) at a French Ag College exchange thing
At weekends you would be hosted by a French family
One weekend I got a family who only spoke French and lived in a large house, with living quarters at one end and sleeping area in a different part, separated by a long corridor
First night they put a bucket in this long corridor and went to great lengths to explain its use, the mother even demonstrated ‘squatting’ over it, to make sure I got the message translated correctly

Sure enough the bucket was full of yellow piss and one large turd … the next morning

Ugh

Just to let you know before you firm up any plans I will be away from Tuesday 25th August to 1st September. Going to Malta. JJH
