Boring I know, but can anyone give me a ball park figure for commuting Basingstoke to Euston on a Monday morning? I'll be on 1600GT (bit too wide for my old dispatch riding habits!) and need to be Euston by 9am.

cheers

I go Basingstoke to the city every day. I would bank on 1hr40min at that time on a Monday. You'll filter from Fleet services right through to the M25 and then you'll have hard filtering across London.

Greg - it takes me 1hr5min each morning....although I do leave at 0515 and sail straight through.

Therein lies ...

....although I do leave at 0515 and sail straight through.

... the rub, it's not a linear journey ! Leave early, get there quicker and go for a brew; leave later, it'll take you longer and there'll be nowhere to park and it'll be too late for a brew :nenau

Thanks

I know how to use a route planner :roll eyes: I am after local knowledge about bottlenecks. I'll leave 7 ish and see how I go. The last few times I've left London, the Euston road has been packed going East - ? because it is not on the congestion charge route though to the city. Probably better to go through Piccadilly as bikes are exempt? Mind you, road works on the Piccadilly A4 have clagged things up.

Expect the M3 to be chocka from Bagshot or sooner. Personally, I'd take the M25 to the M40 and come in that way as the roads are wider and allow easier lane-splitting. The M40 drops you down onto the Marylebone and Euston Road without any further turnoffs.

The answer was 2 1/2 hours.

How you guys tolerate that commute is beyond me.

"Warning, queues for the next 16 miles" and they mean it!!

Mind you, British museum to past Cardiff in 2 1/2 hours after lunch. K1600 real nice!!

commute

2.5 hours!

wtf

just about to start commuting in to London after a 2 year break, part of me can't wait, part of me is dreading it - used to do it on a dakar 650, it was 20 miles door to door and took me an hour.

not sure what to get this time round....defo not a K1600 :hide haha

i've been over-taken by a few recently:thumb2

The only thing that I dread about the commute is the ball ache of getting all the gear on. I love the journey itself.
