Collective wisdom please? I don't want to buy a DVD to watch on my telly and then have to buy the same through itunes to watch on my Ipod. I've got a number of DVDs that I own and am off on my hols soon and want the DVDs on my Ipod to while away the hours on the coach transfer. Researching on line shows up oodles of software to do it, mostly what you have to pay for. Now I don't mind paying, if it will do the job! Anyone out there know of a sucessful efficient program to do the job?:beerjug:

Cucusoft.

I fly a lot on business and the Cucusoft program converts DVD's direct to the ipod in mp4 format. Never any probs works great. Will cost you about 10 - 15 quid to download.

VLC works on Windows too

i don't think it will convert the files to ipod format though. might be wrong?

i believe stolzy was referring to the fact that Handbrake needs VLC present to get past the encryption when it does it's convertion ;)

If you;re lucky enough to be on a Mac Handbrake and VLC will do exactly that - for free

Handbrake wont do it anymore as they dropped the copy protection decripter. I do this all the time as I run an HTPC in the living room so store all my dvd's on hard disk. Best I have found is anydvd with clone dvd or FAB DVD all are pay for. Unfortunately the movie companies are constantly putting stuff on the DVD's to stop you copying them so any software you use needs regular updates to keep copying the new movies.

best bit of freeware EVER

hi

I started using a bit of software called "XVID4PSP"

a good while ago, it has profiles set up on the device for whatever you

are copying to (iphone, ZUNE, itouch etc) so each file is optimized for

whatever you are copying to and best of all ... its free..

you can batch convert as well, which is handy if you are doing a load of them

Seems to work with VLC - though I haven't tried it on a (very) new DVD
