DWA Fault Code Error: Has anyone dealt with this issue? Weeks ago the fault used to read DWA LO. Now it just reads DWA.

I have learned thru the threads that this fault code is for the optional factory alarm. I have replaced the (2) alarm batteries with the CR123 type as specified. Upon starting I still get this DWA fault. It is no big deal as the bike still runs great. But i would like to clear this error and restore the alarm capability.

I thought maybe the bike needs to run so it can charge these new batteries. (if this is true or not let me know) I took the bike out for a spirited ride. Still after a couple hours there is still no progress.

The bike is an 06 GS. It is desert yellow. It has 105,000 kms It was serviced at 100,000. All other functions and accessories are running as normal.

Let me know if you have suggestions. I really dont want to pay the stealer to fix it until i have exhausted other options suggested here. Thanks

Are the batteries you replaced the ones inside the alarm unit under the passenger seat ?? I believe you need a dealer to do an alarm unit reset after replacing the batteries but I could be wrong.

Replacing the batteries did not take a dealer reset on mine, but I suggest check the battery number - are you sure CR123 is it?

Edit - CR123A seems to be it. Hmmm

Maybe disconnect main battery and reconnect?

dwa code

you need to sync the key fob after fitting new batteries ie contact bmw to instruct ,i think u just hold one of the buttons for a few seconds

I remember a post on here a while ago with a link to the online DWA instructions aas a .pdf file from a scandanavian BMW site. If I can find it I'll post a link for you.
