I am considering getting a GS but have no intention taking it off road. Therefore I do not need enduro mode or endure pro but if I do not get the extra modes I miss out on dynamic mode. What is the difference between road mode and dynamic mode? Is it worth the extra cash if you are not going to use endure mode?

Had a 2013 GS LC without Dynamic (just rain and Road) and now got a 2014 GSA with all the modes and would definitely say it's a nice to have and far from essential.
Dynamic sharpens up the throttle response and also sets the ESA damping automatically to hard and I think changes the traction control/ABS settings to suit more spirited ridding.

As always you pays your money and makes the choices that suit you ;)

It is the fun button if there is such a thing on a GS. Not suited for use by over 50's or ex airhead owners. Check your life insurance policy before purchase.

The difference between road and dynamic is more noticeable on a K1600GT and S1000RR than the GS but still makes for a laugh on corner exit, especially track days provided the traction control is switched off. Then again refer to the above.

On the road it is best to use on a smoother road with quickshifter but it will run out of puff at 140ish mph. The same terminal speed as in Rain and Road mode. How you get there is different.

Nice reply, ever thought about a job in politics?.

I leave mine in Dynamic all the time, although I switch the damping back to normal.

Other than the more responsive throttle, the traction control doesn't cut in as quickly as the bike wheelies under hard acceleration. This makes it much more rideable two-up :thumb2

mine's in Dynamic all the time (except when it goes offroad).

the throttle is more direct , more responsive.

IOM

Just spent a few days over on the island and rode mountain back to back both in road and dynamic and there is certainly a difference when coming out of uphill corners

I left mine in dynamic when I took it offroad. That was interesting!:D

I switch off traction control and leave in road mode. Much smoother, esp for wheelies. You'll never know when you need enduro mode though esp if you go touring.

I only ride in Dynamic mode when solo on road. The extra responsiveness over the airhead engine is what drew me to the LC in the first place. But I use Rain mode when 2 up, to improve smoothness for pillion. It's worth the extra cost.

I used rain mode and still got bloody wet, don't think it works, think I will take it back to the dealer and complain

+1 for it being the fun button. I have Dynamic mode and Normal ESA set most of the time, switching to Rain when it is wet. The Road setting hardly gets used. Why settle for an option that doesn't let you get the best out of the engine?

It certainly is the most responsive mode, and I would use Dynamic at the track. But for the road the lesser setting is much better, smoother, and with the TC off wheelies are easier and more controllable.
