This is for work, we run a small business which is predominantly admin based, although we sell and service equipment. We have seven employees and run about twenty e mail addresses and I am concerned about the amount of time & money wasted by staff not being able to perform simple tasks.

I don't think my expectations are too high but I think we need to have a combined system that gives

e-mail - similar in function to Outlook, where the user can quickly send e mails to individuals or numerous people and groups, attach multiple types of attachment. It uses the company address book.

An address book that is linked to the e mail and work iPhones and is maintained by someone in the office, with iPhone users having a separate address book.

A calendar that is linked to the office and work iPhones

I will be happy to move away from Outlook, which has caused us massive issues and consider other software, but it needs to fulfil the above criteria and be simple to use or at least be self intuitive so we avoid another steep learning curve/frustration and more wasted time/money.

I understand Thunderbird is open source, but does that mean it is limited on functionality and reliability ?

Should we consider Postbox or something completely different ?

Any sensible suggestions greatly appreciated.

Seems that there is an issue with Microsoft products talking to each other particularly office 365 and outlook

We had a massive issue a couple of weeks ago when the passwords for 365 had to be changed then due to windows update outlook would not accept the new passwords which were needed for them to integrate !

Microsoft tech people spent 2 days trying to fathom the problem and the best they could come up with was creating new profiles and migrating data !

I feel your pain but cant find anything else that will do the job as well as outlook and 365.

Apple I cloud is a possibility but then it has to run hand in glove with windows and can be temperamental

Outlook is garbage and had its day IMHO. You don't say what your actual email server is but if you want to change to an integrated suit of online services then take a look at g suite. If you go that route leave everything online and be done with it. The only time you should be using local apps is on mobile devices.

I cant remember what the email server is but I'm sure its hosted on one and one or plus net, and Im not the IT person, but Im at my wits end and will be driving change. I cannot believe the crap that we have gone through this last 6 months.

A lot of your issues could be solved by looking at hosting. Look at Google Apps for Business. Roughly £30 per year per user but oh my it's perfect.
