About a month ago, I was taking a break during a birl in the Scottish Borders. I was in Yarrow and saw a very large bird, circling in a thermal. Buzzard ... nah, don't thinks so. Kite? Nope. No forked tail and it's too big anyway. Eagle? Nah! Surely not ... too far south.

Then on the goggle box just now, there's a lass talking about this project and apparently they release the young eagles from somewhere not too far away from Yarrow.

So if you're riding in the Borders (north or south of the border) and spot a big feck off bird, note the time and place and get in touch with https://www.goldeneaglessouthofscotland.co.uk/ and let them know.

I think one of them had its holidays in the Glens of Antrim a couple of weeks ago. A group of us were up Glendun having our lunch near Orra bridge when one rose up from the heather about 30m away only to be harassed by crows. I think it was a female as it was huge. You see them the odd time up there but most come over from Southern Scotland. Its only 12 miles from the Mull of Kintyre to Torr Head.

That must have been a tremendous sight @Mzokk The pigeon racing bastards have continuously scuppered any raptor re-introduction attempts in the Mournes. I'd love to see them on Slieve Gullion and our surrounding area.

It was a great site and it would be great to see big raptors back in South Down and Armagh. (y) I was up Croob recently trying to photograph Red Kites. Loads of them about but by the time you stop the bike and get the gloves and camera out they are long gone :D One for the car I think!!

I know the cafe well but didn't know about the link with the eagle folk. Time for another birl! Thanks.
