I used to use The Graham Arms Hotel at Longtown for bike trips and tours. Secure court yard at the rear. Bike friendly

Not used it for some time though! ....

I don’t remember there being much in the way of camping around Hawick. And to be honest there are not a lot of ‘hotels’ but I would think plenty of air b n b’s. Hawick, not a hugely tourist town.
Kelso, nice and the best town square in the Scottish Borders.

Yes, I know! There is also an old folks home and quite an old church....in Bonchester!
And there is a campsite in Hawick too, and a couple of hotels, but not much else in Hawick - I get it. But Alistair has narrowed it down to Kelso, and if you are camping not sure there is much there for that either, and there are more hotels in Kelso.
