Last summer i met a biker on a ferry who showed me a pair of ear plugs that were made specially for him. They apparently had a hole in them that let wind through and when he was wearing them he could hear somebody speaking but it cut out wind noise. When he got them the sales man/manufacturer there was a demonstration where an air horn was left off and it could not be heard, but you could hear the person beside u speaking.

Does anybody know anything about these and where can they be got (and no i didint dream it!!!!). any help appreciated. They were made in the UK somewhere

Oonyack has a pair that is even more selective:

They................

Amplify "Anyone want a drink? I'm buying"

Block "Hey Johnny - it's your round!"

think they're called "Tight-Ears" :thumb

("Tight-arse" mair like) :augie

Al :clap

(Sorry - not heard of those plugs you mention :o)

Any decent custom ear plug manufacturer will be able to fit 'filters' in them - just ask any of the custom companies that do bike shows/meets etc etc

Personally, I didn't get on with custom plugs and went back to foam ones.

Ear Plugs

Try Customearprotection.co.uk I'm waiting for a pair that I ordered at the NEC. £65 with filter, the company are based in Dorchester, Dorset. They take a mold of you ear and then make the plugs from that.

thanks for that. sounds like it might be them. i'll give them a ring Monday and see if they do it by post as well.

If you have no luck with that lot try EMTEC ear protection (01743 709480). They send you to a local ear specialist (boots or the like who have an ear section) and get them to make the mold. These are then sent off to Emtec for them to do the fancy stuff. Been using them offshore for years and they are good. Great on the bike to - as long as you have your speakers in your helmet in the right position, hear the music dont hear the wind! Even come in there own plastic box to keep em safe.
Think they are in the North East somewhere.
