Dear Mr. Bear,
The pie run went through Oakham and Melton. There were other pie stops planned, however, everyone had had their pieful in Oakham.
Leesons Butchers on the high street. All of their pies are made at the butchers shops. Pork pies are made in the traditional Melton Mowbray hand raised pork pie method. They also make a great cornish pasty.
Some partook, I purchase one for the off road group to consume but it never got opened. I hope Mikeyboy remembered to take it out of the fridge to share with the lovely Mrs. Mikeyboy.
As well as the pie stop, we also stopped at the Saddle Inn in Twyford for lunch, where they weren't expecting us, but managed to feed us all with good quality lunch, both cooked and uncooked.
It's a pity you couldn't make it, you'd have been amply fulfilled. Anytime you want, I'll give you the tour. Maybe Norfolk Tiger will make up the group.
I must also say, apart from the weird way we were called in to dinner, The Crown in Sproxton was an excellent venue for the weekend, along with the cricket pitch and pavilion.
