I'm spending two nights this week in The Gateway Hotel, Nuthall Road. Can anyone point me in the direction of a couple of decent eateries in the area? Any good Indian, Thai, Lebanese etc. about the place?

TIA :thumb

Watch out for bike thiefs in that area, got my 1100 nicked from the back of this place, may have been Robin Hood and his merry smackedin bastards.

Should have booked a room there as well. It's ensuite, guarenteed vermin free and you get as many chocolate fingers as you can stuff in yer little face.

Also SKY+

EDIT: For breakfast, you also get home made coissant with sausages stuffed in them as well, and a choice of brown or red sauce.

Unfortunately it's a business trip involving other peeps that I have to pretend to be nice to :banghead:

On the plus side, if someone can point me in the direction of some scran to cover tomorrow night, if I can't stand the peeps I'm with I'll go on the batter with Kev on Tuesday :D (assuming he's allowed out to play, that is).

And since I've to leave at 6 in the morning, would yez answer the fecking question!!! :rob

:blast Bugger. I fly to Paris on Monday with work, back late Wednesday night.

The area is pretty grotty, plenty of take-aways, but it's a quality hotel. The restaurant in the hotel is supposed to be good :)

Head into the city centre for food. Only a ten minute taxi ride.

Theres two good contemporary Indian restaurants on Maid Marion Way called "Memsahib" and "4550 Miles From Delhi" and a good Chinese resturant on Derby Road called "Ocean City" :thumb2

There's a brilliant indian on Maid Marians Way.its called "4550 miles from Delhi" ,41 maid marians way.NG1 6GD 0115947 5111. Excellent food, good wines, not expensive. Give it a try.

Ha!

Possibly the longest three days of my life. Why oh why do idiots think that they can figure out a product range of over 3000 items when they can't even manage to use a tape measure properly? :blast

And thanks to all for their recomendations, even those who waited until I was already pished in the bar:augie:D

Anyways, the food.

Monday night, we decided to eat in. One of the lads had taken a dinner & breakfast deal with his room, so ate in the restaurant, and wasn't hugely impressed with it. That said, he did say that there was noting wrong with it..... just that it wasn't somewhere he'd take the missus. Myself and another lad just had bar food. £7-50 for a pretty good burger with proper cheese and reasonable chips. Not bad for a hotel, would even go out of my way to call in for it if I was staying in a Travel Lodge etc., but not for a night out.

Tuesday, and it was 4550 Miles From Dehli. Bloody fantastic!!! Two of us went, easily got a table even though it was 90% full (speaks to the quality on a Tuesday night), and were sorted with popadoms & drinks, with a few minutes to go over the menu. 'Tother lad has Sizzling Tandoori Chicken, which was tender, moist and very tasty. I had a Roghan Josh and, I have to say, it was one of the best I've had. Plenty of aroma, bags of flavour, tender and tasty meat, but without the over-dramatic combination of heavy spices you get quite often. Basically, something you could easily eat every night without getting sick of the perfume effect.

Asta la vista, 4550 Miles :thumb
