I've just fitted EBC HH pads front and rear on my 1150 and the front ones rattle like buggery - I thought the bike was about to fall apart until I traced the source of the noise.

This was last discussed here about a year ago - has anyone found a solution to the problem since then? OE pads have little springs attached to them to prevent this but they're not transferrable to the new pads. Seems that some sort of spring-steel arrangement as part of an anti-squeal backing plate (as used on lot of other bikes and cars) would do the trick but can I get some anywhere?

I don't want to change pads again partly because the HH's are so much better than standard but also because I just bought them and they were expensive! I suspect someone will tell me just to live with it  Is that the only solution? Yes, I know that Ferodo do a possible alternative, but I want a solution for the HH pads.

Had a set of rattly pads myself. Got fed up last week and bought a set with springs.

Only suggestion would be to drill and pop rivet the springs from old pads onto the new.........or buy the correct pads!!!

First suggestion - too late - threw them away!

Second suggestion - aaarrrgghhh! Not giving up. Not giving up. Not..... And they are the correct pads - EBC say so, anyway!

Think I might find myself some spring steel and make up a doobrey for each caliper to stop them rattling. Either that or find some off another bike that fit.

you should have had a look Here -

They come with the anti-rattle clips attached -

(and are a better pad than ebc)

;)

But next time I need new pads I'll ask you first, Steptoe ;)

On a serious note, in what way do you consider the Ferodo pads to be better than the EBC HH (which I think are excellent in terms of stopping power) - wear rates? Even better performance? Obviously in terms of anti-rattle characteristics they are better...

stopping power and feel , without wearing your discs out .

Rattly pads ??

Serves you right for being a mingebag and not paying a bit more for the vastly superior Carbone Lorraine ones.

( And you get a cool sticker with each pair  )

I have the HH EBC too they are good stoppers but the rattle (especially in the rain) is horrible....

I'll get some fromSteptoe next time as I've had enough
