Edinburgh Easter Egg Run

Sunday's Run Now Cancelled

Me and Stumpy have decided to (very regretably) cancel Sunday's Easter Egg Run to Edinburgh's Sick Kids. :( :( :(

It seems pointless if three bikes is all we could muster. I realise that folks have other things to do on Easter Sunday and I'm not having a go at anyone. Maybe we should organise a "proper" Easter Coast Egg Run for next year and have it a week or two before Easter Sunday?

TBH I think that the decision had to be made now to allow alternative plans to get made for family stuff etc on Sunday. Some folk maybe intended waiting until Sunday and making a decision then (weather wise) but with only 3 people committed at this stage, it just seems a bit of a waste of time.

5 - Skye and I posted that we were up for it if there had been enough interest. Never mind we will now be at the Glasgow one, and there is always the Sick kids Xmas run to plan for (Santa Suit already in :thumb)

Yip, we would be up for that if enough other people are going :thumb2 Wouldn't want the kids to miss out and was making some preparations for the bike :augie

Failing that Skye and I will go along to the Glasgow one

I'm toying with the idea of the Glasgow Easter run....if not I'll see you at the Xmas run....:thumb

Hopefully you will make it through then.

PM me on Saturday night if you are going to make it and we can try and hook up with you. :thumb

You didn't add your name to post 17 and your last comment was along the lines of you going "if enough people were going". (Post No 14)

4 names are certainly better than 3 but not much.

I had to get my tonsils out at the age of six and nae bugger brought me an easter egg:mad:

Mind you I think it wis November:nenau

To be honest I think most people tend to take it easy on Easter Sunday after the big nosh up. I am offshore at the moment and its supposed to be awful weather this weekend so maybe a good call to postpone it. YOu are most welcome to send aforementioned Eggs oot here;)

Have Fun

Sorry Ronno but work dictates:spitfire

I see that we are suggesting something for next year:thumb2 Is there something that we could do before then i.e. Maggies centre toy run?

Or a toy run at christmas?

TBH there are loads of charity events throghout the year that peeps on here do individually and as UKGSer events. I ask for plenty of support for the charty funds at GOTC.

I for one would be reluctant to ask for further donations. UKGSer isn't a cash cow (as has beeen mentioned before). I'm not trying to piss on your parade Turpin but I honestly think that care should be excercised so that we don't over over egg the pudding when it comes to asking for money ...:thumb2

Now helping out SWMBO at the Glasgow Egg run. I'll be at one of the MAG stands either York Hill or SECC any GSers come up and say hello. As I understand it the run starts from the SECC follows a route to York Hill then the first 3000 riders get to stop at YORK HILL car park the remaining number (approx 7000 last year) get re-routed back to the SECC.

Its the first year they have run it like this so :nenau how it will turn out.

Turpin, Having re-read my post earlier I apologise if I sounded a bit curt. I posted in a rush and while I stick by my post and reasons behind it, I didn't mean to sound as if I was putting your suggestion down. There is no protocol as regards anyone organising anything on here.

You weren't treading on anyone's toes. Feel free to organise a Charity Run if you feel like it. All I would ask is to bear in mind the amount of "tin rattling" that goes on elsewhere too.

I took it on myself to post my personal thoughts as you seemed to be including me in your suggestion. I based this on your reference to my own suggestion of next year's Egg Run. Sorry if I've been mistaken.

Post away my friend.

Ronno :beerjug:

PS I got you message about Tam Sutherland :thumb2
