Electric cruise control

I know there have been quite a few threads on various types of cruise control but has anyone experienced the one fitted to my '05 1200.

Recently when using the heated grips the twist grip tightens up enougth to remain open, initially disconcerting but now i'm used to it and know the reason it is not a problem. If I want to ride without cruise control I just switch the heaters off.

Any ideas on how to loosen the twist grip or should I find out how it happens and market the system.

common problem... the heat expands the grip making it rub on the holder...

I believe the fix involves shunting it away from there it rubs or trimming... (only time it happened to me was a World of BMW bike at Wales)

I sorted mine on my '07 GS on Sunday - they put tape on the bars now (I suppose to stop the rust) but it was sticking on full heat - cleaned it off and WD40'd it and it's fine now.

Careful though, as you may find the the throttle is a lot more sensitive after sorting it out.

We discoverd this also happens when using a wrist support paddle on the 650s too

Audiovox

Lot of folk have very successfully fitted the Audiovox cs100 units to bikes, even though they are meant for cars. I think I was the first person to ever fit one to my '98 K12RS, considered the factory option but the bits were just two expensive even from beemerboneyard. Took a while but was used heavily all last season and worked a treat. Its far superior to any sort of friction based cruise control and the whole deal only cost me about £ 90 with all the bits. Although i about to fit a second hand handlebar factory cruise control switchgear as its a bit better looking and ergonomic than the Audiovox control

I am already looking into how I could fit one to my new '08 GS, i'll keep you posted on my thoughts.
