Electrical connector of some sort?

Found these connectors in my Father in law's electric connectors box. I can't ask him as he is no longer with us. Can any of you out there explain how they work? Thanks.

They are quick connector. Self piercing so that you don't need to cut and solder.

posi tap connection. Generally used for tapping into a live wire for a switched live circuit.

Correct, I would say they are Posi-Tap connectors, for tapping into a wire.
