Electrical problem (intermittant)

I've fitted a new Odyssey battery to my 04 GS.Sometimes when I switch on the ignition the switches,grips,indicator,trip counter doesn't work.If I simply switch off and back on again they spring into life.I thought it was a battery problem but the new one fitted dismissed that.I have factory fitted alarm but nothing else other than standard.I'm using it regularly at the moment and fairly long journeys to work and back so it getting plenty of charge back from the alternator.If I take it to the dealer will they charge me the earth for updates if its a know problem.Any thoughts.Merci

Put some lock oil on your key and insert/remove it a few times!

Mine did that. Now it doesn't

ditto - Maplin contact cleaner down the barrel fixed mine.

But the bike will start and run its just the switches etc that don't work until you switch on and off a few times.Are they all on separate contacts within the barrel.
I never thought of that !!!
