Electrical Woes ?

Hi everyone. My old 2002 1150GS (131,000 miles) has a fuel gauge which stopped making any sense a.while back, usually not working at all. Now the oil temperature gauge seems not willing to show over 3 bars (usually bang on 5) it's running fine and strangely now seems to pull 6th gear happily at least than 40 mph. (Usually not under 50)
Any suggestions, other than it's buggered, ignore it !!

have you checked the main earths to the instruments?

RHS of bike (as sitting on it) where the main loom goes up the support frame for the beak etc is a crimp for all the earths.
Carefully cut open the PVC sleeving and have a look. If its all green then remake the earth connections

What @NeilDD says.
£1 gets you £5 that he is spot on in his diagnosis. The RID can sometimes go faulty but generally it is something else to blame.
