The motor in the Schek project is an R65 about 1978. I am assured that was a good runner but mileage unknown. I want to put 800 barrels and pistons on it. Are they a straight swap? The rods look good and no float on the crank. Should I have it stripped and inspected anyway or take a chance? Want a low ratio gearbox so wandered whether BM ever did one in one of their vast model range? The bevel is an R80 circa 78. Again want a low ratio drive so really wondering what combo to use? Help I am out of my depth here:drool

THE 650 has a shorter stoke so a bit of machine work is required to shorten the barrels push rods and tubes etc, and you loose about 8% of the volume too - that ,is 800 barrels will only give 740 ish cc

ok thanks - that doesnt sound too difficult to get sorted. Any ideas on the gearbox/bevel?

I'm almost sure that Siebenrock do a bolt on 800cc kit for the R65....but are you really sure all the investment is worth it for a R65 ?

:beerjug:

had a look on their website - nothing showing and suspect may be very expensive.

another thought :D i have seen R80 barrels advertised with nicosil bores. Are these the same as the early iron bore barrels?
