Hi FOlks,

just had my bike (1150GS Adventure - 2004) serviced (6000+annual) at a well known dealers.

After a ridout yesterday, with the bike sat on the drive idling...... prior to being put away for the night. I noticed that the idle speed seemed a little higher than I remembered prior to the service. Actually I don't know what the idle was prior to the service, it just seemed to be 'louder' than I remember. The idle speed is about 1200.

So my question is simple - what should I expect the idle speed to be?

Now it is probably just be me being hyper sensitive (i.e. paying attention for a change) but I thought it worth checking.

Cheers

If you dont mind me asking :mmmm how much did it cost for 6000 + annual ? Curious as I phoned me dealer today on this very subject :beerjug:

cost of Annual Service + 6000 combined service + loan bike . and fitting 2 new tyres (Tourance)...........

are you sitting down.....

£612.68

This is made up of labour charges
297 for service
31 for fitting tyres

parts costs
56 front tyre
65 rear tyre
18 oil
9ish oil filter
20 rental bike
plus other goodies.

Then £91 fro the lazy good for nothing VAT man: and they treat us bikers like criminals

I find it strange that when you ask for a price up front, they always leave out the parts/consumables - which they know they have to use during that service. (This is true of every 'garage' I've ever used - so it is not a whinge at the dealer)

Don't get me wrong - the service from the shop/workshop was great, but I can't help feeling I've been robbed (again)

Looking on the bright side, at least I've got a full set of dealer stamps

Thanks for that ...I was quoted £210 but I,ll bet that,s labour only as you say :nenau

Can't help coming in on this one 'cause I've just had my 6000 mile service done at RGM near Preston, and I've seen all sorts of prices being quoted for this service from different dealers.

Roy at RGM charged me £105 incl VAT for a bog standard service ie as per the service manual on my 1150GSA, and there was nothing else wrong with the bike so no extra work done. It even included Castrol GPS (I would have preferred just GP non semi-synth oil), and a stamp in the service book !

Not bad compared to the ridiculous £200 + charged by many other garages.

Well now I'm depressed :fiddle

I'm happy for anyone who gets a good price / bargain :thumb - but why is it never meeeeee

Seriously though - you never know what the service / price is going to be like, and in many places you don't have much choice.

Anyone know which dealer / workshop would do a good job for a fair price in / near North Hampshire.

Cheers
