engine noise help please

Hi guys I've got a 1150gs 2002 year with 9000m,just been dealer serviced before I got it from the previous owner.
On starting whether from cold or hot after the engines been standing for a few secs there's a knock for 1 or 2 seconds is this normal
Also sometimes I think I can hear a sort of machine gun noise whilst standing still and reving the engine this seems to be on the left hand side cylinder head.
Thing is I ain't paid the guy for the bike yet not signed any paperwork it's still on bmw warrenty till next spring any advice please.

seems it's just a quiirk of the boxer engine eh!
Read all the threads on engine noises,and from that it seems if you don't wear ear plugs you could get really parinoid waiting for the engine to go pop.

They all do that....eventually!

Yep...shake...rattle and ....roll ....baby. Tinkle and twang on occasion aswell. If the Japs had made engines so noisy there'd be none left they'd all have committed 'hari-kari' or is it 'karioke'.

And nobody would buy erm!

But we are quite happy to buy erm if they are European weird in it. Is it because a lot of us were brought up on the "interesting sounds" coming from engines and need it now to be happy.

Personnally I can't stand the sound of a well engineered jap engine.
