Engine noise

Help please....bought my 1999 1100gs with ABS this week.

With the engine running there is a whats best described as a whirring noise coming from high up in the engine.can here when stationary and when riding at 30/40/50 mph...higher speeds cant hear it..........

Should I take to a BMW dealer to check it out or might it be ABS or Fuel pump related.............

Hope someone can shed a little light on this........

Sounds like the fuel pump, I notice mine now and again.

BMW should supply ear plugs with these bike.

Don't worry

I also have a '99 gs1100. Mine's been making the same noise since I've owned it. It's the fuel pump and nothing to worry about. It always sounds louder on an empty tank. Buy a Remus or ear plugs.

You do realise that the replies you received are from owners who have a big bundle of shares and royalties on ear plugs and Remus products
