engine oil - mineral or synthetic

with my first 04 GS the received wisdom seemed to be, mineral til 10000 and then fully synthetic. I now have an 08 1200 gs and its just turned 10000. Should I do synthetic on the next oil change?
 
Didn't that Charley Watsisname run a Honda Cub on used fish'n'chip oil successfully before chucking it off the top of a multistory block of flats?

If chip fat is good enough for the most successful bike in history then it's good enough for a fuggin old Beemer :beerjug:

Mind you, I'd play safe and use Extra Virgin Olive oil, not any old beef dripping.

Yes. If it were me, I'd ignore the Luddites and fill it with Castrol Power 1 10w-50.
