I did a search but couldn't find the right thread with the info!

Anyway, thanks Dave.

Now all get your tin hats on........I'm sure there are more tedious questions on the way in the near future!!:toungincheek:augie

If you like, ask if its normal for the bike to use oil, and then argue about the grade of oil and suitability of it in a bmw, that always winds them up!

I managed to find some other threads where 'Newbs' had asked the same question, and were subsequently hung drawn and quartered:eek:

Wouldn't it have been easier to open your owner's handbook and read it straight off the page?

Hi Stevie and welcome to the Forum.
That "Q" gets a lot of peoples hackles up.:blagblah:blagblah:pullface
The answer you got was correct, Castrol [or any other superior 20/50 non synthetic]:thumb2
But Definitely NOT Duckhams crap :eek

And You Mr Kelly, get back to your drinking, I have got another bike and it's an AIRHEAD :rob

lightly Frye in a mix of lard, whale oil and Olive oil. the subsequent Juice is then reduced and put in the bike. what ever you do don't mention oil i did once but i think i got away with it:ronno manwhell

Was wondering if the experts in here had a preference to another particular kind of oil....

Dont worry Steve, its not a forum where you are allowed to ask a question that has been asked previously even if you can find it in the search option.

I use a nice 20/50 from halfords.

OK I get the gist

Perhaps a note in the 'New members, please read here before posting' thread on what not to ask, especially if it's different from what you were wondering but weren't aware, would be a good idea...:augie

Now then....tyre pressures...:hide

You sir are going to fit in here very well :thumb2:thumb2:thumb2

"Be prepared and give as you receive" is the motto:bounce1

1200 owners:blast are normally thin skinned :thedummy:rtfm:tosser, unlike me whose newest bike is 1988 and oldest 1952

I just tell 'em to PISS right off :rob:rob

Read the Manual - but 10W40 if its a bit chilly or 20W50 if it is a bit hot.
