Engine oil

engine oil for specifically for diesel engines is a detergent oil and if used in a petrol engine that has clocked up a few miles will wash away all the build up and the bearings big end little end piston rings will start to knock and slap I would advise against it.

Without getting too carried away most modern oils cover both. The S is for petrol the second letter is the quality. The further down the alphabet the better the oil. The C is for diesel and again the more you move along the alphabet the higher the quality. Now there's a hell of a lot more going on with oil than that. But for your question yes is the general answer unless it's some highly spechilised oil out of some unusual engine. Look for the S and buy a good quality oil from a reliable source. I'd say sg or higher. Don't ask about Grade unless you want 50?answers.
