Erratic fuel gauge

I changed my fuel filter a week or so ago.
When I first swiched it on the warning light was on all the time but the gauge was correct. Second time I took the bike out all was back to normal.
Today the light was constantly on again and after a hundred miles or so the gauge went a bit erratic and now reads full even though it has covered 180 miles.
Any ideas??

Sounds like something is touching the float arm.

Agreed. You probably bent the foat arm

Top tip, when you reassemble the tank try inverting it with the filler open, if the floatarm is moving freely you can hear it moving
