I've been looking up some Essex fords and there are some absolute crackers.

Most are easily passable but there are a few serious green lanes ones.......

So anyone fancy an Essex fords run???

;)

Dates could be a prob squeezing it in before the Banjul trip, but it's possible.

Might even build meself a snorkle this time ;) ;) ;)

Situated at one end of a byway this ford is only suitable for 4x4 vehicles. Although only about 12" deep it has an uneven gravel bottom and steep muddy approach and exit. Byway is very rutted and closed temporary partway along for a new bypass construction. Well worth a visit by those into green laning.'

I like the look of this one....... ;)

It is on a byway and as such is only suitable for trail bikes and 4x4s. The water level is about 2-3ft which is the standard depth here without rainfall for some time. The drop off this side of the river is quite steep and the bottom of the river is littered with loose rocks/bricks etc to keep things interesting.'

nothing that two foot of vacuum cleaner tube and some duct tape won't get through :D :D

An Essex? Only just!

It's actually got a Cosworth GAA unit under the lid - mostly they were 3.4 litre but a couple of hundred road cars at 3.1 litre were produced.

They did have an Essex block, but the donkey didn't bear much resemblance to the ordinary 3-litre Crapi!

:D

i know it's the rather rare RS3100 but i got fed up combing google for a nicer picture of an essex capri, and it is a nice picture :)

was the cosworth engine fitted in the road car? i thought it was just a bored out 3.0L

sorry about the hi-jack mr fanum, sir.

i'd really love to come on another of your lovely ford rides, but it's too far away, too cold and i'm too much of a nancy.

it's much too nice here basking in the considerable warmth of an old AMD2000 talking about old cars :D

No dates yet Greg........just weighing interest.....

The day could be a prob TBH......we've got the Wombat hunt on the 28th, then Chrimbo's going to get right in the bloody way of the fun......then on the 28th Dec We're off to the desert......

Might have to be a new year thing, unless enough people fancy it and can take a day off midweek.

take a day off mid week ?

I do feel a bit of a sore throat comming on....... cough cough

two bouts of boxing

As I was made aware in the Beach BBQ thread, as Boxing Day falls on a Sunday, there's a Bank hol on the Monday, in effect a second bout.
If the Fords fall in the right areas, may I suggest some sort of tie-up with the BBQ (proviso-I can get it off the ground, not literally).

As I'm dry behind the ears-RSVs don't do water-what's involved and finally, I'll be running in a new engine, is it wise to wet the baby?

Lamble...nice thought but I'm off to do the PLymouth-banjul on the 27th so I'll be packing and sorting stuff out on the 26th.......;)

Ludicrous idea !

This sounds like a completely insane thing to do in the middle of winter, putting a perfectly serviceable road-oriented motorcycle into an unknown depth of water, purely for the amusement of onlookers !

Count me in !!
