European OS equivalent ?

Hi, could any of you guys advise me ? Is there a European equivalent to OS maps, in particular for Spain. We have a rural Villa in Andalucia and would like to explore the surrounding countryside. Secondly, if so, is this mapping available for a handheld GPS system and which would you reccomend ?

Ok, it's not the same as the Good Old British Ordnance Survey, but...

There is a great Spanish website with a zoomable feature that goes from about 1:1000000 through OS type mapping and down to GoogleEarth type detail - don't have it on this laptop but will post when I get back to the PC
