.exe files for Mac

I have a new MP3 player and I can't get it to work. I've put the CD into the computer (Mac with OS 9.2.2) but not much happens. I click on the SETUP.EXE file but it says the application that created SETUP.EXE could not be found.
Can anyone please shed some light on this?

You sure you're using the right installer for Mac OS?

I always thought .exe's were the domain of Windaz so unless you're using Virtual PC you should I think run something else as application executable .exe don't run unless under emulation

Aye. EXE files are windows executable (program) files and windows programs can't be run on a Mac.

What application are you trying to install?

.dmg is the .exe in Mac. Unless you have MP3 software with a Mac compatiblity, it won't work.

Have you iTunes? If so, just use that for mp3 files - your MP3 wont play Mac's AAC files. If you are ripping CDs, tell itunes to store in mp3 format and you'll be fine. Or download music monkey and use that.

I'm not running virtual PC and wouldn't know how.
Another option is AUTORUN.INF. Will that work or is that Windows as well? When I click it it gives me the option to open it using various different bits of software but I haven't found one that does the job.

It doesn't matter what you try, windows application won't run on Mac OS.

What's the application? There may be a Mac alternative.

As Bigtwin said earlier, iTunes should work.

I've tried iTunes version 2.0.4 as I'm led to believe that's the last version compatible with my iMac (G3 running OS 9.2.2) with no success.

It looks like the software provided for the player is simply not Mac compatible, so music can probably only be loaded on to it from a PC

Open iTunes.

Plug in your MP3 - it will come up as a device on the LHS of the iTunes screen - you can give it a name if you like!

Then all you have to do is drap and drop your MP3 (NOT AAC) files into it - simple.

You MAY find that you have probs with itunes seeing the files when it comes to deleting them (if you ever want to) - not a problem, just open your MP3 off the desktop and delete them "manually" like that.

I have 2 ipods - one Mac format, one Windowz. They both work fine from iTunes in with MP3 - but the Mac format one will also play AAC, the Doze one won't.

If it's like the cheap MP3 player my neice had for christmas, it will mount as a disk in the Finder and you can just drag MP3 files onto it to copy them over. Then eject the disk and disconnect the player from the Mac.

There's no icon or nothing when I plug it in. If I open Apple System Profiler and click on Devices ad Volumes, it sees that it is there but I can't do anything with it.

Have you got anything disabled in the Extensions Manager, such as the USB Mass Storage Extension or USB Mass Storage Support extensions?

I see you've logged a support request on their website.

In the meantime, I've have a poke around the old interweb and there is no Mac software for it. However, as stated before it is designed to mount as a removable drive and you drag & drop your mp3's directly onto the drive.

I think you should focus on why it's not mounting as a drive. Has it previously mounted and now stopped working or has it never worked??

If so - don't, plug it in a "main" one.

Bah, a glimmer of hope there but sadly no, all USB extensions ae enabled.

Got it plugged into a powered USB hub. I tried the keyboard USB but it says not enough power to use mass storage device yadda yadda.
