Is there a specific set-up procedure when reconnecting the bowden cables to the flappy valve widget in the exhaust? e.g. "Connect cable A first" or "adjust free play in Cable A, then adjust Cable B" sort of thing - or even a specified amount of slack required or a "resetting" procedure to calibrate the servo?

I've just unseized mine yet again, and refitted the cables more-or-less as they came off. The power-on self-test action appears OK. Was just wondering if there is anything more I need to do? (Apart from simply disconnecting the thing and forgetting about it, of course...)

sounds like you have been sensible removing and refitting,i would just carry on:thumby:

That's what I've done in the past - I just wondered if there was anything else that I should be doing "by the book" so to speak.

This is what the book says

From the REProm for the R1200GS model 470 TU

(+) Adjusting Bowden cables of exhaust-flow control valve
(-) Adjusting Bowden cables of exhaust-flow control valve
Switch on the ignition.
Actuator motor moves to the "flow control valve open" position.
Switch off the ignition.
Ease back grommets (1) and (4).
Slacken locknuts (2) and (5).
Turn adjusting screw (3) until all play at the Bowden cable has been taken up, then back off the adjusting screw 2 to 3 turns to relieve the Bowden cable.
Secure adjusting screw (3) with locknut (2).
Turn adjusting screw (6) until all play at the Bowden cable has been taken up, then back off the adjusting screw 2 to 3 turns to relieve the Bowden cable.
Secure adjusting screw (6) with locknut (5).

Sorry no picture but heres what it shows

items 1 2 3 are on the manifold side cable
items 4 5 6 are on the silencer side cable

The Test

Move Bowden-cable shrouds (7).
Bowden cable shrouds (7) must lift from their seats in adjusting screws (3) and (6) without the force of the exhaust-flow control flap spring being perceptible

7 shows the two cable covers

rest same as first photo
