Exhaust help (again!!)

Hi all - can anyone answer a question on how to modify my 850GS exhaust system

I have read lots of threads about remus/anything else as replacement exhausts, but has anyone made a link pipe to junk the front silencer, keeping the original rear box?
Does it make a difference to performance? - is it worth doing
