Exhaust Valve Eliminator Tube

Yes. The alternative is the same dimension pipe, same material for (hopefully) £10 and that includes postage (within reason). Wait until next weekend and I will get more info on it. I cant promise anything but I have my fingers in a few pies and Im owed a couple of favours and Im hoping to get some made for a damned sight cheaper than whats presently on offer.

Send the dimensions to Andy at Xtreme Stainless, Hixon Staffs. He will cut you a suitable pipe and supply pipe clips for not much cash. If you visit he'll fit it for you.

I cant quote an actual price, but to give an idea of his value - a pair of muffler link pipes made to measure cost me £80 fitted.

Thanks Gordon - I'm not in any great hurry so let me know what you come up with..

Cheers

Exhaust Valve removal

Hi Folks. If you remove the exhaust valve and replace it with an eliminator tube, what do you do with the old valve? Leave it connected and hide it under the back of the bike somewhere? Your thoughts and advice !!!

Temporarily disconnect the wiring harness connector from the servo (the control box into which the valve cables go), then temporarily remove the servo from the frame.
Disconnect the cables from the servo pulley, carefully place the valve in a plastic bag, and store it on the top shelf of your garage. :thumb
Finally, re-mount the servo to the frame, and connect to the wiring harness connector to the servo as normal.

Since the servo is still connected, the ECU will still register that the valve is there - but the valve itself will no longer be strangling your engine. :clap

Cheers Nick. I will give this a try once I have an eliminator pipe. How is life in SA? The Mrs and I spent 10 days touring from Cape, Garden Route, Karoo, Swartzberg pass, Stellanbosch back. The best riding holiday we have ever had, lovely country and really welcoming people........more should try it! D

In damp old Blighty give the valve a good dose of ACF-50 before bagging up and storing. Hey it might even be free-er running when you put it back to sell the bike. :thumb

Although I understand (from a previous discussion on the subject) that the ECU still throws up an error code as, without the valve, there is no limit on the "travel" of the servo.

This hasn't been a factor on my de-valved '10 GSA.
As long as the Master Caution doesn't light up, and the overall performance of the bike isn't impaired in any way, I have no issue.

I Had mine Removed the one on my 2011 TC when I fitted the Full Akrapovic never threw up any fault codes
Id buy one of these tubes as well and de valve the Rallye

..so we just need to agree the tube dimensions are we're away.

Does someone have one of these things they can measure up? Failing that I can measure up but I need my GSA at the moment so it'll have to wait for the horrid weather to arrive..
