For piece of mind I have just paid £360 for extended warranty on my 2 year old RT has anyone had good or bad experience of BMW's extended warranty's?

It will be the best move you make
All the miles you do countries you visit you can do this with total peace of mind
Cover abroad worth its weight in gold
mine is a 2006 GSA and its still under warranty
yes things do go wrong - big things - expensive things
you do have to do your bit like keep the services unto date and generally look after the bike
BMW have never ever quibbled or questioned anything - never tried to get out of doing a repair
Bahnstormers my dealers have been superb and handled my problems brilliantly
my warranty is £33.00 per month
i have broken down in Austria many moons ago - the whole rescue and fix and getting you back on your way was amazing from start to finish
Total peace of mind is the key thing here :beerjug:

I had extended warranty on my 2008 RT with 70k on it, was worth it IMHO and wouldn't have a BM without warranty unless I had space to fix things myself.

gsa lc wouldn't dream of not taking out the extended warranty, lots of very expensive interconnected electronic gubbins all just waiting to go POP !

And here I am thinking of maybe swapping the reputedly ultra reliable Yamaha Super Tenere for the R1200RS. The salesman told me that most customers buy their bikes on PCP and change every 2 to 3 years. I'm starting to think many do this because they don't believe they are getting a reliable machine. I've always paid cash for my bikes but the salesman was really pushing the PCP with a view to me changing to a new bike after about 2 years.
