Ermm coming up to 2 years and 24000 miles
Bike has been pretty faultless tbh. Is the extended warranty a sensible investment?
T. £330 ish without recovery (I already have this)

I think it is a good idea. Today's bikes are not as reliable especially in terms of electrics etc and if they go wrong you are into a big costs. The extended warranty is very comprehensive in what it covers. Like all insurance, if nothing goes wrong you question the cost but for piece of mind I would get one

It's a crap idea, unless you come to a circumstance whereby you might be able make a significant claim against it. Then it magically morphs into:

A. A godsend and you a godlike genius for having bought it

B. A godsend but you a bodlike chump for having not bought it

The next 365 days will tell. Do you feel lucky, punk? Well, do you?

If you intend to ride abroad extended warranty is a must.
If you need assistance abroad from BMW it will be first class as I have experienced.

Safe riding,
Mike Davies

I would take out extended warranty. On my pervious GS I had the rear suspension fail with one month left on the from new warranty, that was enough of a scare to make me take out another years worth. BMW rear shock alone £1200.00.
I go abroad three or four times a year so for me, as others have said, it is a no brainer.

Suspension is only covered up to 30,000 miles!!!!! A few other exceptions too i seem to remember. Read up on the Consumer Rights Act if you are worried. Knowledge is power.

I took it out and so far am definitely quids in/up...will be renewing it again with 55k on my 2010 GS...as its likely Ill be needing it. Only difficulty is that if you sense a part is failing...you would normally do preventative maintenance. e.g. I think my FD needs some attention and a rebuild by Mikeyboy is cheap enough, but if the warranty covers it I tend to wait for said component / area to go tits up before going to bmw..but on my bike and with my massive (not) bank balance I am happy to pay for it..You makes your choices..
