Just completed the HID installation on my Dakar. After three aborted attempts with various bits of bracketry, I've finally managed to complete the job. As most of you know, space for mounting aftermarket accessories, especially lighting on the F650 is virtually non existant. Anyway, I've done it simply by using a few pieces of Dual Lock tape (available from Les Wassall) and numerous cable ties. The Ballast, Igniter, relay and everything else is mounted on the screen/headlight framework and the earth goes to the M6 tapping on the headstock (thanks Les). I've included a couple of pics to help any future installations. Overall, a big improvement and very pleased with the way everything is neatly tucked away.

i removed mine......................................

it was fitted when i bought the bike, and it decided to pack up halfway up the M6 toll road at about 9pm. thankfully the previous owner had given me the original bulb so i had to remove the lot (in the dark)

apparently a H4 bulb id not a brilliant choice for HID'ing, something to do with the dip and main all being in the same bulb

mine kept flicking on and off before flicking off completely so i've fitted a really bright normal bulb which does the job for me

i agree though, they're tiptop when they work

[/start woorying when you've got 4 of them on a dak, not much space for anything else QUOTE]

I'm thinking of fitting Les's Micro DE's. Any chance of some pics or advice on your installation. Any help will be gratefully recieved.

Awesome job on the install thanks so much for posting pictures. I installed my kit under the fairings and it was getting a little hot due to no airflow. I am going to try this and see how it works out.
