Our 2008 800GS twin clutch has just started to slip, now I have several years riding bikes but the lever does not appear to have any slack or play and the clutch cover end is also devoid of adjustment, anyone experience the same probs?

When you say clutch cover end is devoid of adjustment, do you mean you have reached the end of the thread on the adjuster and still don't have any free play in the cable?

Spot on, Am considering just replacing friction plates for now and seeing if that cures it, but for the life of me I cannot work out why the adjustment is going the opposite way to all the other bikes I have!!!!!

Up to 2012 there was no adjuster at the handlebar so you probably do need to fit new plates. That's exactly what I had to do.

From memory I changed the plates at around 55k, bike had a lot of town use. The fact pattern plates are available suggests they have a limited lifespan although I bought OE ones.

Thanks, going for EBC Plates & new springs, oil & Filter!

What I was going to add earlier was to make sure the new plates get a good soaking in oil before fitting, but I imagine you have done that.
