Hi Guys.
I don't post much but read loads.
I feel its time to let everyone know how much fun this little bumble bee has been over the last 3 years.
Condsidering i have had numerous bikes over the last 30 years or so.. (dont consider me old, just experienced) this little bike just begs to be used.
I have a really clean low milage K1200s sat alongside the Gs but i've still managed to cover 12,500 miles on her in rain, sun & snow.
Been over the uk & europe, on & off road, fell off at slow speeds loads, always surprised to find only the odd scratch on crash bars etc.
She has done me proud with minimal problems once the initial running in settled down, the biggest p**s me off was the battery dying whilst in for the chain recall & had to pay the £99 to replace it 1 day out of warranty.
I shall be sad to see her go.. but happy for my new yellow GSA to arrive on saturday from southport superbikes. (excellent deal from a dealer so far from my home)
Anyway, i wanted to let u know i was tempted away from BMW, i really like the look & ride reports of the Ducati multistrada 1200 touring, £14,750, so in BMW price bracket or above..
i have been hanging my liver for one for months, inspected, scrutinised, road tested.. Fantastic full power, but in traffic snatchy & twitchy compared to my own F800, also very squat & low for filtering, i also got aching left thumb operating the indicators after very few miles, unlike the BMW paddle switch gear that is so easily operated with gloves on. (things we take for granted)
Anyway..
Then.. i got back on my F800gs & within less than a mile i decided the Ducati was NOT gonna be coming home with me, but, oh the looks.. fantastic, but build quality & bent legs i thought would soon give me buyers remorse.
Then.. armed with £15k budget the wife had allocated for the duke, set off to buy another F800gs, stumbled upon Triumph then another BMW dealer, the bright Yellow demo bike got me looking, got a trade in deal organised, happy with the deal, also got offered discount, but the trade in is always easier..
Then.. Road tested the demo ADV, adjusted the seat, & handlebars, in fact scrutinised everything in sight, rode it through one of the windiest & patchy cloudburst days we have had for months, it gave me insight into how the screen, wind & water protection for me on long distances would work, i was happy..! I was also amazed how stable the bike was in the wind compared to the others i tried.
So, Today, Monday evening, i leave this little twin thread to the 1200 section.
keep ur eyes on ebay for my extras, i have the comfort seat, panniers, top box, loads of touratech bits, Hid spot lights & brackets that turn night into day..
Oh, one more thing, i have carefully looked after my 800Gs & i personally think its as good today after 3 years as a 3 month dealer demo bike that never seen WD.40 or polish.
56mpg average is also a nice feeling in my pocket.
That gentlemen & ladies is why i'm having another BMW.
