Hi All

got a bit fed up of wrestling with the front wheel due to the OEM centre stand putting all the weight on the front wheel.

Stuck a trolley jack under the bashplate and lifted it up- turns out you only need to lift the front of the bike by around 30mm to get the wheel free, so I made this out of a bit of 12mm tube and some adjustable feet from an old desk

The other (simple) option is to park your bike on the side stand with the stand facing a wall. Turn your bars away from the wall the push the bike over, balancing it on the side stand and rear wheel until its leaning against the wall... hey presto, front wheel lifted.

Blimey, now there is a good way to prop the bike, especially out on the open road/trail....It will have to be an addition to any camping/touring trip. You just never know....

Ah well, if you're carrying metal panniers, you can do the Helge Pederson technique.

Same as the wall technique, except that you don't need a wall...take the pannier off and put it underneath the pannier frame on the side-stand side of the bike. Pull the bike over until the pannier frame is touching the top of the pannier box and balance it on there. Think he used a strap to tie the bars back so the front points in the air. Maybe a rock under the side stand to create enough of a pivot point.

And of course you could just lay the bike down...I can't ever see myself carrying a Jack through the plantations of Malaysia...

Great idea will be on with one today but just a thought from another bodger, I bet that would fit in the main frame tube above the pegs across the bike with a bit of ingenuity!
