Im upgrading from my f800gs to a 2006 R1200Gs at the weekend, courtesy of Allan Jeffries
I had the R1150Gs 10 years ago but seems a distant memory.

What have I got to look forward too apart from the drop in fuel consumption?
Cheers

Tony

Well, Tony, you have got all the things that prompted you to spend money in the dealer's in the first place.

You have described the move as an upgrade. List in your own mind all the aspects of your 1200 over your 800 that triggered that statement. That's what you have to look forward to.

Can't be sure what they were? Time running out before the weekend? A cold river of uncertainty running down your spine? Tense, nervous feelings gnawing at your innards? A panic setting in that you really have no idea what they are or were? Don't worry, help is closer to hand than you thought:

just out of interest whats your reason for wanting to change from an 800 to a 1200

Wanting the 1200 engine, I rode one and liked the power delivery.

Still unsure or maybe now not quite enough?

Take a leaf through The Girls' Book of Vehicle Upgrades, starting at Chapter One: The colour.

Better wind protection, more relaxing on those dull long motorway stretches, a more refined/smoother ride, no front end dive as you hit the brakes, a slightly less plank like seat, a bit more road presence (size), no drive chain to clean/oil/adjust, increased servicing costs, poorer fuel economy (as you said, the 800 is amazing on fuel - my best was 72 mpg), a generally better all round multi purpose bike IMHO. I loved my 800, prefer the 1200 but would happily have another 800.

Enjoy :beerjug:
