F800GS Top 5 Mods

Essential mods----
Hand guards
Nothing else required for road use.

Nice to have
1) Top box. (Save money and fit a small Givi and home made fixings , nicer than the square expensive BM kit)
2) Power plug direct to the battery for a heated jacket.
3) Ram GPS mount for my Garmin GPSMap60.
4) Fender extender.

I fit the BM panniers (bought off ebuy) only while touring but are as heavy as the contents they hold and a real pain to pack.

Thats all I have done, its been OK for 1000s of miles and plenty of touring.

Not sure they are essential but the following have certainly made my bike better for longer road rides

BMW comfort seat - miles better than stock and importantly very pillion friendly.

Rox Risers - off eBay, able to sit up in the seat better with less reach

Brittania Concepts fairing - too much wind blast with rox risers:D this fairing enables you to adjust screen height on the move. Visor up riding at mway speeds plus a handy place to mount your GPS above the clocks

Fast way pegs - the ability to cant the pegs inwards helps keep the knees gripping the tank. A revelation when standing on the pegs, combined with the risers makes standing up off road very easy

Grip Puppies - foam covers for the grips. I have small hands so took some time adjusting to these but worth it as I have the start of arthritis in my
fingers and these reduce vibration

Yeah, these are great and they do take some time getting used to.

Well the question is 'the top five mods' ;)

Got lots of mods to mine over the last three and a half years and 63,000 + miles, for the top five I'd go for .....

1) My first mod, get rid of that feckin' stupid wobbly front brake master cylinder reservoir thingy and fit a 1200gs one :thumb

2) Peli case on the back, fitted with 12V socket, to charge my phone and iPod, I don't need a top box to put a helmet in ... I'll be riding the bloody thing :thumb

3) Wilbers rear suspension unit, front fork springs and oil ... worth 20bhp :thumb

4) A GPS loaded with the full maps of Europe, the World Map and an A4 size map of the world :thumb

5) On board camera so that when you are confined to barracks you can review all the fun you have had :thumb

Any other money should be put to one side, not spent on mods, unless you can afford them, and used to SAFIOI

That's... Slap A Feck It On It :thumb
